THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL
Sunday, February 12, 2012: THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL
It all relates back to the great singer.
Whitney Houston was a brilliant talent. I remember her rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Superbowl in 2007. It was the time period of the Persian Gulf War. Spellbinding! Her vocal performances were awe inspiring!
The song, “I Will Always Love You” written by Dolly Parton was re-arranged as a soul ballade by Houston and producer David Foster and featured in the movie “The Bodyguard”. It won Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female in 1994 at the 36th Grammy Awards.
The song, “Anyone Who Had A Heart” was a huge hit recorded by Houston’s cousin Dionne Warwick. The song hit the Billboard Top Ten in January 1964 and peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The tune was a crossover smash and hit #6 on the Billboard R&B; Chart and #2 on the Billboard AC Chart.
Gospel award winning singer, CeCe Winans was a close friend of Whitney Houston who recorded top ten R&B; radio hit “Count on Me” with her as a duet.
Whitney Houston’s music has touched so many lives – she had the voice of angel.
