Welcome Singers!

Welcome Singers

It is important to develop each singer's signature sound. Every singer is different and should be coached as a "unique" artist.

Whether you sing professionally, in an ensemble, in church worship, in recording sessions or for your own enjoyment, I believe each singer has a unique talent that can be tapped by understanding how to apply technique, style and personality to their voice.

With results comes confidence!

Read my weekly BLOG. I write about INSPIRING people and events.

CREATIVE CLASS

with Brian Farrell (B.Mus.A.(Hons.), B.Ed., M.A.) and

Neil MacGonigill (Indelible Music)

This is a creative environment for artists, singers, songwriters, performers and others who enjoy music.

Interactive discussion, viewing vintage video, listening to a variety of music styles and delving into some of the most compelling contributions to the current state of music are at the forefront of the Creative Class learning experience. Classes are hands on and highly interactive.

Neil MacGonigill is a pivotal player on the Canadian music scene who founded the Canadian record label "Indelible Music". He is highly respected in the music industry and has been influential in the careers of some of Canada's finest talents. Artists who have worked with MacGonigill include legends: Ian Tyson, Billy Cowsill and K.D. Lang as well as artists: Jann Arden, Paul Brandt, Anne Loree, Steve Pineo, Beautiful Joe, Beautiful Dreamers, Karla Anderson, Joe Nolan and Chip Taylor ("Wild Thing" and "Angel in the Morning").

Brian Farrell has taught many successful arts professionals by encouraging strong connections between the arts, the marketplace and life. He is a vocal coach, conductor and artistic mentor. Past coaching and consultations include musicians/songwriters: Paul Brandt, Raghav, Lindsay Ell, Kalan Porter, Ashwin Sood, Sarah McLachlan, Jann Arden, Steve Pineo, Anne Loree, Denis Grady, Bob Halligan, Jason Carter, Pierce Pettis and Jeff Lillico.

Local artist Lindsay Ell is a long-time student of Farrell’s adds, “Brian teaches singer/songwriters to seek the intent behind any piece of music, and develops a way to help the singer communicate that intent through performance.” Ashwin Sood, producer, principal talent scout with Nettwerk and musician, says, “Brian Farrell is one of the main reasons I am a musician today. He taught me everything there is to know about using your ears, and really listening to melody, harmony, and understanding lyrics.”

VOCAL WORKSHOP with Brian Farrell

New Times TBA

Bissett School of Business

Mount Royal University

Are you interested in developing yourself musically - getting involved in a positive and supportive musical environment?

I started these classes for singers who want to learn more about music - to perform in a group, to learn more about vocal technique, vocal styles and to enjoy music with other musicians.

In the workshop, you'll perform vocal charts as an ensemble, share individual performances, listen to a variety of music styles, share about songwriting.

Each workshop is different.  I build the workshop according to the background of the participants.  Here's some topics we've covered:

Vocal and Physical Warm-ups/Vocalises
Listening Inside the Music
Interpreting Vocal Charts and Bringing the Vocal Chart to Life
Performing a Variety of Vocal Styles
Creating your Own Style
The Performance Workshop
Individual Vocal Sessions
The Art of Songwriting
Viewing Exceptional Performances
How to Audition
Rehearsing for Stage and the Recording Session
Your Music Team - What They Do
